SWCS-BC Annual General Meeting
Date: 6pm November 24, 2005
What: The AGM, located at the SFU Harbour Centre featured a guest lecture by Dan Millar, Environment Canada, on Transboundary Water Issues in British Columbia.
The 2005-2006 slate of executive officers was elected. The minutes of the 2005 AGM are available.
Field Tour of Mayne Island
Date: October 30, 2005
What: A field tour of Mayne Island's unique soils and agricultural heritage was organized by PRSSS with the help of SWCS-BC.

Date: March 19, 2005 at UBC Faculty of Forestry.

A discussion on the development of a Soil Conservation Act for B.C.
and a tour of the Belowground Ecology Group research facilities
Bill Chapman (Ministry of Forests): "Progress in the Soil's Effectiveness Re-Evaluation"
Kim Sutherland (Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries): "Analysis of Farmland Use and Agriculture Land Needs in the Fraser Valley East, using GIS Technology"

SWCS-BC Fall Field Tour: Guided Tour of the Delta/Burns Bog Landfill Methane Production
Date: Saturday November 20 2004.
Location: Delta landfill adjacent to Burns Bog.
What: Tour of the landfill with information on the methane
production associated with the site that is used to heat greenhouses.

Our Foodlands Under Threat: Protecting the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR), June 12, 2004
The BC Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, the Vancouver and Fraser Valley Branches of the
BC Institute of Agrologists and the Pacific Regional Society of Soil Science
teamed up to host a very successful public forum on
the importance of conserving agricultural land and the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR). Approximately 100 people attended this
event, including several local and provincial politicians.
